Exciting news! I just released my first kit at Two Peas, it’s call Fall Primitives.  : )

This kit is packed with 20+ papers, an alpha, and over 45 embellishments! It’s perfect for all those warm, fuzzy fall layouts.

Here’s a glance….

Of course I had to try out the kit myself, so here’s the layout I created—a great day at our local CSA harvesting all sorts of veggies. : )Layout

Alright gang, big news!

I’m gonna be a digital kit designer at Two Peas in a Bucket!!!

First, before I say anything more about that, I want to give a shout out to Nicole over at Stuff to Scrap. Now that I’m going to be a kit designer, I won’t be able to be on Nicole’s Creative Team—which really stinks because I’ve had a lot of fun working with her kits. : (

Thanks Nicole for being an awesome designer to work with and for giving me a chance to work on your Creative Team!!

As for the Two Peas gig, I’m slated to release my first kit this Tuesday. In the coming weeks I’m also hoping to start a little Creative Team of my own to help show off the kits. : )

So stay tuned…lots of changes on the horizon!

Nicole just released a fun kit called “Soccer Time” available at Stuff to Scrap. I have never played soccer in my life—and I mean never. I don’t think I’ve even watched it before. In fact, now that I think of it, I think this kit is the closest I’ve ever been to a soccer ball!!

That being said, I had a blast designing with this kit. Something about the black and white soccer ball colors mixed with the bright paper colors resonated with me.

Nicole included so many fun elements with this kit that I was able to design this page in about 30 minutes. I’ll admit, it didn’t start as a Halloween page. In fact, I was trying to design a “soccer-themed” quick page, but once I finished the page it didn’t anything like a soccer page—it looked like a Halloween page. And I had the perfect Halloween picture for it! Goth Halloween from 2006. : )

So back to designing a soccer page. I was scared. Here I had tried to design a soccer page that turned out like a Halloween page. Not even close—unless of course, you dressed up as a soccer player for Halloween, but that was a pretty tall order for a quick page. (My sincerest apologies to the few people who may have actually benefited from the above page).

It was time to pull out the big guns. I needed to harken Caddyshack logic—“Be the ball Brandy,” I thought to myself.

I needed to think like a soccer player.

And then my iTunes shuffled to “All Fired Up” by Tralala (click here to listen to the song on YouTube)—“This is it!” I thought.

So there you have it—a half an hour later I designed what I would consider to be a punky soccer quick page available at Stuff to Scrap!

 Brandy-quickpage-preview

All this because of Tralala and Caddyshack—something I’m certain many of the kids who will eventually wind up on this page probably have never heard of!

Oh the irony! : )

Ahh yes, today is the big day. Goodbye 20s, hello 30.

Surprisingly, I’m alright with turning 30—I thought my 20s went rather well, so I’m excited to see what this new phase brings. Plus, my favorite musician Mike Doughty commemorated the big event with the release of his new CD Sad Man Happy Man. So how can you not be psyched about that?!

Okay, I made that last part up.

But…

(you knew this part was coming, didn’t you?)

…if there was one thing I could do differently, I wish I would have discovered my inner “punk” a bit sooner. Who knows, maybe that’s the sort of stuff you figure out when you turn 30?

At any rate, I decided to make a freebie kit that embraces my inner “me”—which I would describe as girly punk.

In celebration of my big day, take a moment to think about who you really are and how you’re going to express that to the world today.

Me? I’m going to wear all-black. And, extra mascara. : )

Nicole is releasing another fabulous kit called Tee Time available at Stuff to Scrap. You can get both the kit and the quick pages for $5.00—just use the coupon code GOLF. Awesome, eh?

So when if comes to golf, I’ll be the first to admit, I am not a golfer—only done it a few times and totally made up my score as a I went—but as far as Nicole’s kit goes, I still really enjoyed working with the muted tones! They’re perfect colors for the fall!

I decided to make a page about one of the wineries we visited out in Washington in 2007. Because hey, I don’t play golf—but I do drink wine! And I think I’m pretty good at it. ; )

I’m absolutely thrilled how this page turned out!

I also created a quick page available for purchase at Stuff to Scrap. Check it out! : )

This kit is actually the first freebie kit I ever created, but I had so much fun in the process I ended up creating two more in the meantime.  : )

That being said, there are still plenty of goodies with this kit! In fact, the file was so large, I had to break it up into three separate downloads (lucky for you!). There are a whopping 15 papers, 12 stickers, 2 frames, 4 page wraps, 4 paperclips, and 1 journal spot—plus the colors are perfect for all your fall pictures!

Okay, this is what you’ve all been waiting for! Here’s my freebie quickpage!

I’ll admit it. Something about this kit made me think of babies—which is interesting considering the only kids I have walk around on four legs! Who knows, maybe it’s because I’m going to be an aunt again in a couple weeks, or that I’m turning the big 3-0 soon.  ; )

At any rate, I hope you enjoy this freebie! I had a lot of fun making it—send me a comment if you enjoyed using it too. I’d love to hear from you!

Nicole just released a great freebie collab kit called Beautiful You. This kit has a lot of bright colors, TONS of embellishments and word art. There is also a great selection of solid and patterned papers!

Since this kit is named “Beautiful You” I wanted to make a page that was meaningful to me. Almost immediately, I thought back to a family trip we took with my husband’s family a few years back. These pictures remind me of the days before we built the house, got the dogs, and welcomed a nephew. I think we all knew deep down that this would be our last vacation before “the boys” (Jeremy and his brother) would start creating families of their own.

Long story short—mission accomplished. The page was exactly what I had in mind.  : )

Fun news—I’m excited to post my very first digital scrapbooking freebie!

Falling for you

I’m not sure if this freebie counts as a “mini kit”, but it has eight distressed fall papers, two ‘taped up’ journaling cards and three fall definitions for your scrapbooking enjoyment. : )

If you happen to use this kit, I would love it if you could send me a .jpg of your page. Since this is my first kit, I’m curious to see how you use it!

And don’t forget to bookmark my site and join the Chubby Bird Facebook fan site! Instead of having to visit the blog, posts about freebies will come to you! : )
